The Creator
Hello! My name is Harneet and I am the creator of a Sikh Wedding Planner; Fantastic Weddings And How To Plan Them.
Ever since I was young I’ve been obsessed, I mean O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with weddings. I remember watching my Bhua’s wedding video again and again, dressing up in my favorite red lengha and pretending to be a bride. My favorite part was the cake cutting ceremony. I would imagine being fed cake and cleaning the edge of my mouth like any perfect-prim bride would, just like how my Bhua did in her wedding video.
My obsession didn’t stop there. I remember dressing my Baba Ji as a bride, that’s right my BABA; using his turban as a chunni, braiding his long hair into two pigtails and marrying him to my Bibi Ji. He was so patient with me, entertaining the whole process from making them sit and pose to my imaginary camera to feeding each other cake.
Looking back- I went through so many wedding-obsessed phases in my life and never thought I would end up in the wedding industry. This wedding planner isn’t something I wrote and created overnight, it’s years in the making. I didn’t want to create a planner without the first hand physical experience to back it up. I created something that’s logical, efficient and makes sense in practice. In fact- the whole planner follows a sequential order starting from The Rokha to The Reception. It includes 11 detailed sections to track everything from vendors, to budgets to guests lists, explanations of what each tradition represents, and advice from my personal experience coordinating weddings.
Remember- this planner isn’t to replace a wedding coordinator or a wedding planner. But if you’re a bride or groom on a budget, and can’t afford spending thousands of dollars, this is the perfect place to start.
